Fresh in the workshop, a stunning 1971 Olivetti 31 Dora, designed by the legendary Ettore Scottsass.
The Olivetti ‘Dora’ was possibly named after the Dora Baltea, a river in northern Italy, that flows through the company's location in Ivrea, Piedmont.
It embodies the essence of the 1970s with its bold style and unmistakable retro charm. Think bell-bottoms, vinyl records, and groovy design, all wrapped up in one smooth-typing package. It’s more than just a practical tool, it’s a statement piece that captures the era’s vibe.
This 1971 Dora was manufactured in Barcelona after Olivetti set up shop in Spain with the serial number 5644715. Measuring 30cm x 30cm x 8cm, it features a pale brown plastic casing with black QWERTY key layout.
The typewriter is in excellent condition, with no blemishes or marks. It’s been professionally cleaned, adjusted, serviced and comes with a new ribbon.
The original Olivetti carry case is included and is in good condition with minor age-related wear. The common ‘tear’ at the back hinge is evident.
A photocopy of the Dora 31 instruction manual is also included.
