Built in Japan for Royal USA, the 203 is a compact, no-nonsense machine, designed for portability and precision. Clean lines, solid mechanics, and a crisp typing action.
Joan Didion was known to use a Royal from this same series. These were workhorse machines built for journalists, students, and writers on the move.
The 203 was produced during a brief transition period when Royal shifted manufacturing to Japan. Fewer units were made, and most surviving examples show heavy wear. Clean, functional models like this are increasingly hard to find.
This unit is in excellent condition, minimal wear, original keys, fully serviced. Includes new ribbon and hard case.
